« previous next »#dailycolonist1914 - News out of Victoria, British Columbia, 100 years ago today:
- Canadian soldiers not sending money home to their families, steps taken to set up direct payment to spouses.
- American officers polled on the war, [and they completely underestimate how long it will last, but correctly] characterize the war as "not a war of ready resources, but of all resources, and until one side has about exhausted all its resources, the fighting will go on."
- British areoplanes out of Antwerp bomb Zeppelin shed in Dusseldorf [and the amazingly naieve opinon that this demonstration of an ability to retaliate will somehow make the Germans think twice about their own bombing raids is expressed.]
