Sci-fi loves faster-than-light travel, and it is not uncommon to say that interstellar travel is impossible without it. But a more realistically surmountable way of accomplishing it is immortality. Travel time stops mattering. Time-dialation stops mattering. Three hundred years of ship-time to get somewhere while three thousand years passes back home? No problem. Another hundred years to send a message home and a hundred more for a reply? NBD.
