- Warnings that large battles are imminent.
- Chronology of the war so far printed
- Italy backing out of alliance with Germany and Austria, trying to remain neutral.
- All BC troops are ordered to their respective divisional headquarters for mobilization.
- Cable ship "Iris" laying cable from Victoria to Bamfield to connect with trans-Pacific cable to Wellington (which still exists, providing a backup for communication satellites)
- 1916 Olympics to be moved to somewhere other than Berlin (eventually the 1916 Olympics will just be cancelled)
- Two new professors appointed to U.B.C.
