Well, I didn't make it Richard's show (hey! there's that "Rick" thing again!) last night because I ended up fiddling with the new server until after midnight. I'm not done yet, but it is running today and woohoo! Is it ever an improvement even in its current "let's just see it work" state. If you want to try it out (and please do and post your feedback here) just use port 81 for any URL on any of the websites I host (e.g. for the Gothic BC photogallery you would go to http://www.gothic.bc.ca:81/photos, for my personal site you would use http://www.mbarrick.net:81, or for Elaine's site http://valerian.gothic.bc.ca:81). Note that when you're entering a URL with an explicit port number you have to put in the "http://" or your browser won't know what protocol you want to use.
I am pleased. Very pleased. This is long overdue.
And in other news I am meeting at my last client's office later today to hand off the applications I wrote for them to another developer. This is a good day for getting rid of old problems.
