The ultimate open forum

I've been developing something a little different for Gothic BC. Myriam showed me something called a "wiki" and I thought it might be fun to have something similar on GBC. What's a wiki? It's a webspace where anyone can edit anything. There are no moderators - alternately you could think of it as everyone being a moderator - it's totally egalitarian that way. It's neither a discussion board nor a mailing list. There are no usernames, no formal way to tell who wrote what. It's web anarchy, baby (and y'all thought I was such a tight-ass - heh)!

I didn't use the open-source wiki code in favour of writing something a little different from scratch. A "normal" wiki uses some funky markup methods preculiar to the application that requires a bit of a learning curve. I wanted something a little more standards-based and chose to go with HTML markup standards for things like bold, italic, underlines, etc. so people wouldn't have to learn a new syntax. I've called my not-really-a-wiki "Xanadu" (no, it's not an Olivia Newton John reference)

What I'm looking for now is for a few people to go and try it out before I make it part of the site next month. Right now it is living on my POS backup/development server which is a frighteningly ancient bit of hardware (even worse that the main server) so it may slow down from time to time or be off entirely.

Go play here [ http://www.gothic.bc.ca:81/gothic/xanadu.nsf ] and let me know what you think.

BTW: this is friends only because this is basically a beta test. Don't go sharing the link far and wide - yet.
