I got much less done this weekend than I wanted to. I made a good dent in my accounting, but I didn't finish it. I still have one account to reconsile and all my deductable receipts to enter. *sigh* It's going to be an exciting night of laundry and accounting. But not having finished my accounting isn't what really what I'm disappointed in myself for. This last week I have not done any painting or drawing. Sure, I've done some photography, but I can't take the digital photographs I take in the nightclubs seriously. It's time to knucle-down and paint some of these images.
I don't know why it is that I can't take my own photography seriously. Part of it is I don't think my photographs are anything special - there is nothing new about the subject matter and my craftmanship is mediocre at best. The other part of it is I've never taken phography seriously as a craft, particularly as cameras have gotten more sophisticated with more automatic functions. Any idiot with a $1000 to burn on toys can pick up a camera that will do 90% of the work. Last night I wanted to do something different and found that I was unable to come up with anything.
