Not being trapped is good

« previous next »

Man! I was so much more relaxed today knowing that my ass is covered, that I have a way out of here. I know that being at Azure would mean more hours, but it would also be so much more rewarding. At this point in life I make enough money, it's all about how I feel getting up in the morning. I want to get up feeling stoked about what I am doing. This gig I have now at the bank is just a job. I show up, I mark my time and do what I have to, then I go home. I cringe when people ask me what I do because I've long since come to believe that so much of what is wrong with the world is the fault of banks (and not in an irrational, "they did it on purpose" conspiracy theory kind of way, but simply as a result of centuries of petty self-interest and historic myopia). Whereas working for a company that makes components for gas/electric hybrid high efficiency vehicles is something I can get behind. Besides, I get along with engineers.
