(I am a cubicle monkey.)
OK, so I made an entry at work and forgot to bring the disk home. We had a meeting at the end of the day and it ran over so I bailed out as quickly as possible, especially since the transit strike escalation made a mess of downtown traffic. I had to drive this morning. I had planned to walk but forgot to set my alarm last night so drove at the last minute.
When I left work downtown traffic was near gridlock - for the 3 blocks I participated in it. Let's hear it for knowing the city I live in. I wonder what people around me thought when I bailed into the Pacific Centre parking lot despite the neon "full" sign? See, what most people don't know is that by using the loading area one can drive underneath the very worst of downtown traffic and come out 3 blocks from the Granville Bridge. Ten minutes to get to the parking lot, and then woosh five minutes home - while everyone else sat there and honked at each other.
So the job is getting better. The second two days went much better than the first two days. I've actually had a few things to contribute and I am starting to settle in. Once I wean my existing clients from bugging me and finish off the outstanding work I have so that the end of my day is the end of my day, then I think I could start to enjoy this. I know I'll enjoy it when the first cheque shows up.
