[Gothic BC] 49, going on dead: episode 22

Triple feature: all three rides I managed to get out on during the rainy month of April. In the third I actually, finally, make it all the way out to UBC to, of all appropriately gothy things to do, attend a memorial.

[Gothic BC] 49, going on dead: episode 21

n this episode: Two rides and a new opening sequence featuring time-lapse video from my first ride. The first ride in this video is a pre-Valentine's Day baseline run where I decide for a moment that maybe it a race. In the second video I try out the newly paved Arbutus Greenway (which isn't very green yet) and ride up to the summit of the Arbutus Ridge. Voiced on the day before the 6-month mark of my separation, which one my cats remains upset about, but also beginning to recover. I'm not alone here.

[Gothic BC] 49, going on dead: episode 20

In this episode: I ride to Vancouver's butt-hole, literally. A 90-minute ride run at 415%. Who doesn't like a time-lapse? I get rained on. I discover there is still a farm on Sea Island and I survive the Bog of Eternal Stench. I also get rained on.

[Gothic BC] 49, going on dead: episode 19

In this episode: This first not-freezing not raining day since Christmas so I head out to explore the Arbutus Greenway, which turns out to be unfinished and covered in packed snow, so I try a different way down to Fraser River Park, which is icy, muddy, and not so great. I also talk about the collapse of courtesy evidenced in the "free salt" debacle.

[Gothic BC] 49, going on dead: episode 18

In this episode: A short ride on Christmas Eve, voiced on Ukrainian Christmas day wherein I ramble about my new camera, the closing of the local garden shop as a result of the housing crisis in Vancouver and point out the worst of the criminals fuelling it, attempt to use a drive-through bank machine, discover a newly finished bike path to explore later, dodge dogs, do some more exploring, and talk about the very dark place I got to this past December (recovery is not linear.)

[Gothic BC] 49, going on dead: episode 17

In this episode: I take advantage of another break in winter rain to get a quick ride in. I had a hard time voicing this one. I babble about Christmas ornaments and why I am not going to decorate my tree this year.

[Gothic BC] 49, going on dead: episode 16

In this episode: Taking advantage of a break in the rain to do a baseline-run. Why you not only can, but should, judge people on their clothes. Why generation X (and Y) will all die alone. My stream of consciousness derails into a mud puddle. Send more cops.

[Gothic BC] 49, going on dead: episode 15

In this episode: I successfully make it out to the Musqueam Reserve and back, exploring the Southlands along the way, the cats help (Tharsis even helps with the voice-over), dashounds are encountered. Probably the last one of these for a while now that the rainy season is in full swing.

[Gothic BC] 49, going on dead: episode 14

In this episode: The second half of my ride downtown where I go around Stanley Park (I contemplated calling this something like 13b or 13½.) I talk about the realisation of why I hate my apartment building, my wedding anniversary, the anniversary of my mother's death, and offer no explanation for the the missing 18 minutes.

[Gothic BC] 49, going on dead: episode 13

In this episode: I take my bike downtown and ride from Granville & Pender to Dead Man's Island along the Seawall bike path to meet a friend, dodging dodgy tourists and special snowflakes the whole way. The ride continues in episode 14, where we circle the park.
