I helped langsuir and kitusne_13 move today. They moved into this beautiful old brownstone building built in 1909 that just happens to be a block from where I work. There is a huge waiting list that they managed to bypass because they know somebody. Well, I know the same somebody . A trip down to the basement to meet the super, a quick run to the bank machine et voila I have a one-bedroom plus den in a landmark building. My new apartment is on the opposite side of the building from this photo, in what was once the light-well with the neighbouring building. Now the neighbouring building is a high-rise and my aparment faces onto a courtyard and fountain. One block from work, easy staggering distance from the clubs, and easily twice the size of any of the sudios/lofts I've been looking at for the same price. It has a gas stove and a claw-foot tub (I've so missed my claw-foot tub... I just don't fit in the modern ones). Parking bites so I'm not to sure if I will bother keeping the car, but I'll have to think about that.

To put this in context for bitogoth, the location would be roughtly equivalent to Michele's place. In fact the street it is on is a major street not unlike Broadway, but the building is more like a cross between hers and yours. I'm two blocks from the subway, a block from work, about ten blocks from the clubs, ten blocks from the nearest grocery store, two blocks from the best wine store in the province... really just smack dab in the middle of downtown in a building that I've admired ever since I used to come into Vancouver with my dad when I was little.
