More Moving Fun and Other Stuff

« previous next »
Yesterday I finished cleaning out my old apartment. What fun that was . I didn't bother filling the little holes in the drywall from where I had hung stuff. I broke my lease so fat chance I'm getting my damage deposit back anyway. It took hours. When I was done the dumpster was full of interesting things like several metres of galvanized pipe that I had been using for curtain rods, a wooden box I had made to house a tiny artificial river that began leaking after the last time I moved, an old 800x600 56Hz SVGA monitor with a "LINUXGRÜVEN" sticker on it, a not-quite-empty bottle of Bols Blue that had been sitting around since my 331/3 party in November 2000 (I pity the poor bum who will inevitably drink that, that stuff is nasty), and other sundry stuff.

At one point the cretin in the Cadillac SUV blocked the loading bay again while I was hauling out garbage. Thankfully he left again before it was time to load up the Wonder Wagon with my carpets and my backup server. If he hadn't I was considering "accidentally" scraping something hard and sharp along his behemoth... "Oh, sorry. Guess maybe it isn't a good idea to park in a loading bay."

By the time I got home, unloaded the wagon, changed the SMTP configuration on my main server to get by without the backup acting as a smarthost, and got ready for bed it was about 1 a.m. When the alarm went off at just before 6 a.m. Ivana's comment was, "Aren't you getting burned out yet?"

Oddly enough, I'm fine. It's like I am getting used to it.

As far as the need to do something creative goes, at least I have a presentation for an executive committee tomorrow. Today is "fun with Power Point" day. When this is all done I have a neat time-lapse of Brenda, Myriam, and I clearing out my apartment that I'll convert to something I can stream...
