Got Candles?

Environment Canada is predicting a blizzard tonight. And I don't mean a "ooh, it's snowing kinda almost hard" Vancouver-style "blizzard", but an actual 90 Km/h winds, up to 20 cm of new snow, blowing snow, -20 °C blizzard. Vancouver is not set up for this kind of thing. This is an unusual city in that a great deal of the electrical infrastructure, even downtown, is done with suspended wires and telephone poles. High-wind plus sub-zero temperatures plus snow plus above-ground electrical wiring - you do the math.

The Peace Duke's Legacy

Easily the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

"Welcomed as liberators."

"Mission accomplished."

There's you're legacy right there, George - "This is a farewell kiss, you dog!"

Another Gothified Mucha

Another "Gothified" Mucha for Gothic BC. This one was considerably more work than the first one since the source image was a very small, very heavily compressed JPEG. The original I started with was a little smaller than this and the finished product is four times larger than this. In order to deal with the nasty compression artifacts the entire image was essentially redrawn / repainted.

I'll be putting this on some Zazzle gear tomorrow evening and maybe offering up a version without the logo for prints.

Christmas List

Once again I have been been ordered to create a Christmas wish-list, mostly for Elaine's benefit...

Reality:
  1. Dress shirts - 17" or 17½" neck, 33/34 sleeve
  2. Dress pants: 34" waist, 33" inseam or unhemmed
  3. Silk, satin, or similar boxer shorts, medium
  4. Ties for work

On the Coalition and the Suspension of Parliament

We have a representative democracy. We don't vote for the Prime Minister, we vote for our local representatives. "Strategic voting" where people vote for the local party representative simply for the sake of which MP that party supports as party leader is the real subversion of our democracy. The people that are screaming loudest are the don't-get-it people that didn't pay attention in high-school Social Studies and voted for whatever nitwit riding on the Conservative ticket in their riding, regardless of that individual's qualifications to represent their riding in parliament.
