Armed

I saw some of the new pistol-carrying Transit police for the first time this morning. Certainly they are a far cry from the machine-gun toting soldiers you see in the subway stations in New York, but I can't say that the desired effect of "feeling safer" was was acheived.

This is not an improvement in safety, it is an escalation in violence. Of course there is a logic behind it; the same logic that is always used to make those tiny, reasonable-at-the-time slips down the slippery-slope.

"It is for our safety."

"We're lucky. It's much worse in other places."

Robbery

I just found out today that I have to take lunch. That's another hour of my day wasted in addition to the two spent commuting.

I'm not happy about this.

My lunch is manditory because of union rules. I'm not sure what the hell I am supposed to do for that hour since I don't eat. I guess I will be going for walks.

Better Today

Whatever bug I was struggling with yesterday is much better today. I'm still a little off, it will be cola instead of coffee this morning.

Work is going well so far. Yesterday's big job was to update all the pages for the new PoMo city council that sworn in last night. I've got to say, Microsoft Content Management Server is an infinitely better product than Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server. It is, however, stupidly expensive for what it does.

Filthy Humans

With yesterday being my first day there were a million introductions and hands to shake, and of course my first commute. I woke up feeling like ass today. Is it even possible for a flu to gestate that quickly?

Over the course of the day I've been gradually feeling better, but my stomach is still off.

Christmas Lights in Three Kinds of Light

With the snow falling Elaine and I finished off the Christmas decorations today. For fun I also photographed the room with my infra-red camera.

Ground Rules: The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits/facts about yourself" and people who get tagged need to write an entry about their 5 weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.
